Welcome to FlamingFeathers! Did you ever taste something on vacation and go home and want to replicate it? Or you had dinner at a friend’s house and you wondered how they managed to time that meal so perfectly?
Well, I’m certainly not a trained chef and funny enough I never had an interest in the culinary world while I was growing up but I used to sit in the kitchen after coming home from the barn while I did my homework and even though I never wanted to join in or learn how to cook, I listened and watched as dinner was being prepared. It wasn’t until later that I realized how much I had learned from those evenings spent in the kitchen. Then, in university I found myself watching countless hours of the Food Network, where I picked up many tips and tricks. This was right around the time that the ‘foodie movement’ was in full gear–my friends and I gained a real love for high quality ingredients, specialty restaurants and a burgeoning love of cooking. We’d barbecue for friends, host dinner parties and test out recipes from around the globe. It was this perfect confluence of circumstances that led to my love of cooking, entertaining and just good food! Today, I don’t often have time to cook but my travels bring me to some of the most beloved food destinations around the world. FlamingFeathers will highlight some of the world’s best seasonal flavors, local hotspots, entertaining hacks, and the nutritional importance of eating healthy as an athlete!
I’m inspired by so many different cuisines around the world and I use the knowledge I picked up along the way to help create tasty concoctions as often as I get the chance!
